Respiratory syncytial virus – RSV is in the news! (10/25/22)
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a highly contagious, seasonal lung infection. It’s a common childhood illness that can affect adults too. Most cases are mild, with cold-like symptoms. Severe infection leads to pneumonia and bronchiolitis. Washing your hands and other common good hygiene practices help prevent spreading RSV.
Is respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) a seasonal illness?
Yes, like the flu, RSV is a seasonal illness. It occurs in most areas of the U.S., starting in late fall and lasting through early spring.
Is respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) contagious? How is it spread? How long does it last?
Yes, RSV is highly contagious — particularly during the three- to seven-day period a person has symptoms. Some infants and people with weakened immune systems may remain contagious for as long as four weeks.
The virus is spread through close contact when an infected person sneezes or coughs, and the virus becomes airborne and gets into your body through your eyes, nose or mouth. It’s also spread by touching objects that the virus has landed on and then touching your face. RSV can live on hard surfaces for many hours.

Up-to-date Monkeypox information (6/5/22)
US EPA has now activated the Emerging Viral Pathogens, or EVP, policy for Monkeypox virus. Monkeypox virus is an enveloped virus that belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family.
EPA’s Emergency Guidance
When rare or novel viruses cause outbreaks of disease, there may be few if any disinfectants that have been tested and registered for use against that specific pathogen. To prepare for situations like these, EPA created the EVP guidance, a voluntary process which allows disinfectant manufacturers to submit data to EPA demonstrating a product’s efficacy against difficult-to-inactivate viruses.
The following Bullen branded products have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to Monkeypox virus on hard non-porous surfaces. Therefore, these can be used against Monkeypox virus when used in accordance with the directions for use against specific enveloped virus claim for each product on hard non-porous surfaces. See the specific dwell time for each product.

Covid-19 Products and Procedures
The Bullen Companies has an extensive history with odor and pathogen control with it’s Airx Labs brand and a broad list of EPA approved products. Bullen and Airx developed long before electrostatic sprayers came on the market a reliable, inexpensive spray system for a variety of surfaces. We were a major supplier to the end user market when the SARS outbreak occurred. Now we have Covid-19 and Bullen continues to lead the industry with its innovative spray non-electric spray systems and short dwell time disinfectants.

The most unique EPA disinfectant product is Spray N Go. It is a ready to use formulation with 2-10 minute dwell time, depending on the pathogen (most are 5-10 minutes). See the video below on the difference between a 2 minute and 10 minute as well the use of electrostatic sprayers.
Note: This video was filmed before Covid-19. The dwell time for Spray N Go against Covid-19 is 5 minutes. Still much easier to do a job with 5 minutes versus 10.
